Deconstruction Revisited Slice 1 – Out now!!

By Matteo on November 25, 2010 | Category: Davide's blog, Luca's blog, News | Tags: , , , , | No Comments

No matter where you spent your last summer holidays, Davide Squillace or Luca Bacchetti were
there to rock a club or a festival near you, spreading the Hideout sound and life style around
Europe and beyond. But don´t think the two accomplices only spent the last months hanging out
on sunny beaches when they were not behind decks or waiting for their next flights. They were
plotting for something big: Deconstruction Revisited. Deconstruction Revisited is a brand new
series of releases, bringing friends and artists Davide and Luca  like and respect into the family.
Each record will include revisits of the Hideout catalogue by top notch producers.

This will all start with Slices 1: a bundle made in Paris where  two of the best producers from the
city of Amelie made their reinterpretation of Luca Bacchetti’s music. First of all, Djulz
(Poker  Flat, Bass Culture, Ovum…) took “The  Endless Summer” and turned it into a house
anthem with a great shuffled 909 beat, some classy organ stabs and a groovy bass line.

Then Paul Ritch ( Quartz ) made his own interpretation of “What Your Soul Sings”
Paul uses here strong beats, funky cumbaia style bass line, white noises and driving percussions.

Next Slices will include revisits by Martin Buttrich, Mathias Kaden, Carola Pisaturo, Robertz Dietz,
Jamie Jones, Sis… Stay connected!

In celebration of their 15th anniversary, Ovum Recordings have put together Fifteen for Fifteen.

Since its inception in 1994, Ovum has put out dozens of records by some of house music’s most influential artists, including Aaron-Carl, DJ Pierre and label co-founders Josh Wink and King Britt. Fifteen for Fifteen focuses mostly on the label’s more recent output, with selections by KiNK, Gregor Tresher and Luca Bacchetti. Nonetheless, some older cuts have been included as well, such as “Klugh” by David Alvarado and “Track One” by Rulers of the Deep. The collection will be available as of today via digital download.

Tracklist
01. Steve Bug – Summer Nights
02. KiNK – E79
03. Shlomi Aber – Freakside
04. Nic Fanciulli & Steve Mac – 10%
05. Josh Wink – Superfreak (Freak)
06. David Alvarado – Klugh
07. Loco Dice – Flight LB7475
08. Gregor Tresher – 95 Days
09. Harry Choo Choo Romero – Phuture (Joris Voorn remix)
10. Josh Wink – Jus Right (Jimpster remix)
11. Chymera – Umbrella
12. Luca Bacchetti – Caribbean
13. Rulers Of The Deep – Track One
14. D’Julz – Just So You Know
15. Davide Squillace – Sukkin Mutik

“Fifteen years speak for themselves … Ovum is certainly one of the most durable, eclectic and original labels on the scene, anticipating many fads and styles; but never letting itself be boxed into a specific category … every time just following the creative spark, instinct, which is how in music new developments are born. Without a doubt, being forever in ‘searching’ mode is something we have in common, together with a passion for what we do. ‘Caribbean,’ taken from my first EP, is one of my least complex tracks on Ovum, made-up of few sounds, a light hearted sequence with aquatic textures … imagine the party of a lifetime, your friends, a long beach and the tropical seas …” – Luca Bacchetti

On Ovum: “There’s nothing to say and yet so much to tell about it. I practically grew up with pizza, coffee and Ovum music. The label has been developing its sound over 15 years, covering most of the dance genre. What kept it all together has always been the quality !” – Davide Squillace

On Sukkin Mutik: “I guess you could call it funky techno, I don’t know though. I hate pigeonholing stuff. I’ve been producing since I was 20, so for ten years I’ve been making tracks. I get inspiration for tracks from the strangest of situations. The other day, I fell over and smashed my arm on the floor and it made a really cool sound. I thought ‘hey, that’s a cool sound, I should make it’, so I went in the studio and tried for ages to make a similar sound. I got there in the end, but it took a long time.” – Davide in a Beatport interview
