MANIK already had a great production year with labels such as Ovum Recordings, Poker Flat, Culprit, Four Twenty … Here he delivers four killer tracks full of soul and deep vibes .“Forge” is the ideal house track for endless summers, best experienced dancing on a beach with a Mojito spilling from your hand. Classy string break , bouncing latino vibes … all that you need for a night by the pool . “Harbin” reminds us of evenings spent at the beach with its classy house chords and saxophone , while “ Peach Tea “ will quench your thirst of new music with subtle glide synths and atmospheres. “That is “ finishes the EP with dry beats, Detroit style stabs and 303 bleeps .

Luca Bacchetti – Endless Summer EP

By sammygoossens on June 15, 2010 | Category: Luca's blog, Releases | No Comments

The Fourth release from newly founded Hideout Records comes from co-label owner himself, Luca Bacchetti.  Hot on the heels of his recent releases on Ovum and Be As One, Luca is back once more with a two track EP that will surely be the center of attention on this Summer’s dance floors.  The Endless Summer EP is full of surprises, in typical Luca Bacchetti style, while still maintaining the man’s trademark touch, sound and feel.  On a release not to be overlooked, the Lucca-born, Barcelona based beatsmith plays two contradictory ideas against each other to reveal a new side of emotion.  The sunny brightness of The Endless Summer shimmers into the darker, introspective world or What Your Soul Sings and draws the listener into closer tough with the seemingly disparate sounds.

The Endless Summer is also the first solo effort on Hideout after the West Side Story EP, a collaboration with co-label chief Davide Squillace.  From one of the sound’s shining lights, please enjoy the 2010 “Endless Summer!”

Davide Squillace

By sammygoossens on June 11, 2010 | Category: Artists | No Comments

Davide is not available for comment. He’s got to catch a flight; he’s rushing to the studio; the stage manager is frantically hurrying him into the booth; he’s meeting to discuss plans for his labels…or any of the other myriad reasons why Davide feels like he hasn’t slept, eaten or stopped running for what seems like his whole life.

Born in Siena, raised in Naples, it took a trip to London for Davide to finally discover electronic music. Wooed by the mood and sound of the British scene, he returned to Naples flush with energy, excitement and a knowing that this new calling would consume him.

Davide immersed himself in this world in every conceivable way. In 1999 he began studying at the Naples’ school of sound engineering, tinkering with his first productions, promoting techno events, and finally performing. His first releases on Primate Records, Design Music and Conform were a cadence of his arrival and showcased the young artist’s steadfast style.

Having honed his craft at home, in 2004 Davide left Naples for Barcelona unwavering in his resolve. Now, while touring around the continent, he began to release in earnest what would become a massive body of work, and at a dizzying pace. His productions have graced the catalogs of some of the finest labels including Ovum, Sci+Tec, Morris Audio, Resopal Schallware, Supernature, CMYK, Adagio, Viva, Nervous, Saved, Shake, Rillis; the list goes on… Which is not even to speak of his curating and releasing on his own labels – Sketch, Minisketch, Vir, 500, Titbit and most recently the bold Hideout Records.

In addition to his genre-defining works, Davide continues to inspire and ignite dancefloors worldwide. Whether it be at Circoloco, where he has been a resident since 2007, Womb, Berghain, D.Edge, or any other marquee venue, Davide plays with an unequalled funk and excitement. His signature sets, revered by the masses and peers alike, do a double duty in guarding our much-loved traditions while constantly pushing them forward.

The realm of possibilities for one of electronic music’s leading lights is endless. Unfortunately, the minutes in the day are not. Davide’s answer is simple – do what you love and make no compromises.

Luca Bacchetti

By sammygoossens on May 19, 2010 | Category: Artists | No Comments

Luca Bacchetti is definitely a force to be rockoned with in today’s house and techno scene. Luca cut his teeth in the scene with a Radio show on club Culture, which gave him the initial notoriety and deserved push to start playing clubs in and around Italy.
He later found a niche for himself playing and producing quality funked-up house and techno together with his radio mate Antonio Pocai, co-producer of his works till mid 2008. The thing that differentiate Luca’s work from the myriads of other producers out there is a strong identity in his music. His productions have the right amount of funk with a sprinkle of darkness and an essentially great groove which makes its tracks irresistible on the dance floor. With tracks consistently charting high on the digital download site Beatport, Luca’s music has found its way into a wide It’s clear to hear why: from squeaking, jerky minimal to wide-open, percussive techno, to hypnotic, lights-out tracky house, Luca’s expertly-produced music has earned him a reputation for producing nothing but quality, dancefloor-devastating tracks. That status was cemented this year when Beatport nominated him as one the ‘Best Artists’ in its inaugural BMA 2008.
It’s been a dizzying rise for Bacchetti, who began as a radio DJ in his native Italy. Favoring everything from hip-hop and soul to drum & bass and broken beats, it was his work with Alex Neri and Tenax Recordings that first put him on the map. His remix of Bini & Martini’s ‘Stop’ marked his first Beatport No 1, and the begin of his run as one of the top artists in the game. From then on, remixes and original work requests poured in giving Luca an international profile: he’s remixed and produced for the coolest labels around including Wagon Repair, Ovum, Tenax Recordings, Supernature, SCI+TEC, Minisketch, Safari Eletronique, Supernature, Saw Recordings, Viva Music, Tommy Boy, Meerestief, Glueckskind, Snork Enterprises and loads more, putting Him on the stand as one of the most succesfull dj/producer from italy in the world. His productions are now regularly played by Dj’s such as Richie Hawtin, Sven Vaeth, Dubfire and Josh Wink. His partnership with Canada’s Wagon Repair crew has yielded an especially noteworthy series of successful original EPs, with the African flavored ‘Nights Over Kwazulu’ showing off a more musical side to his productions. As a DJ, Luca has journeyed throughout the world, rocking the best clubs and festivals. His dj sets can be heard from Berlin to New York to Sydney, Ibiza and Tokyo..
