“Fifteen years speak for themselves … Ovum is certainly one of the most durable, eclectic and original labels on the scene, anticipating many fads and styles; but never letting itself be boxed into a specific category … every time just following the creative spark, instinct, which is how in music new developments are born. Without a doubt, being forever in ‘searching’ mode is something we have in common, together with a passion for what we do. ‘Caribbean,’ taken from my first EP, is one of my least complex tracks on Ovum, made-up of few sounds, a light hearted sequence with aquatic textures … imagine the party of a lifetime, your friends, a long beach and the tropical seas …” – Luca Bacchetti
On Ovum: “There’s nothing to say and yet so much to tell about it. I practically grew up with pizza, coffee and Ovum music. The label has been developing its sound over 15 years, covering most of the dance genre. What kept it all together has always been the quality !” – Davide Squillace
On Sukkin Mutik: “I guess you could call it funky techno, I don’t know though. I hate pigeonholing stuff. I’ve been producing since I was 20, so for ten years I’ve been making tracks. I get inspiration for tracks from the strangest of situations. The other day, I fell over and smashed my arm on the floor and it made a really cool sound. I thought ‘hey, that’s a cool sound, I should make it’, so I went in the studio and tried for ages to make a similar sound. I got there in the end, but it took a long time.” – Davide in a Beatport interview

Dirty Little Secrets
By Matteo on August 1, 2010 | Category: Style Detecting | Tags: Hope, Toronto | No Comments- Hope Hideout
Ok guys, I’m here to air out Toronto’s dirty laundry.
Every city has that crack in the wall spot that’s true to the underground. For Toronto, North America’s hidden gem of the scene; it boils down to the legendary Comfort Zone and Footwork Bar. No fancy décor and no fluff, just a playground for true music lovers.
Nestled in an alley downtown Toronto, Footwork resides.
The experience:
It’s an intimate venue with a powerful vibe that sets it apart from other venues.
Fridays are host to an array of amazing local talent from The Junkies to Carlo Lio among many others. Saturdays are home to top internationals like Davide Squillace, Loco Dice and Paco Osuna to name a few. It’s a comfortable atmosphere that extends from its owners to its patrons.
‘We are a family. This is our house. Everyone’s invited.’ – Footwork
Its now 6am… Still not done? Get your ass to Comfort Zone.
The experience:
There’s no turning back now. You’re in it for the long haul. Opening its doors at 6am on Sundays, and carrying on until 4am on Monday, you can guarantee a morning of the best music in the city. Known as the Church to many, the Comfort Zone is frequented by a very diverse crowd. Anything goes but sorry, no photos allowed! A big supporter of local talent as well as internationals, you are always guaranteed hours of pounding beats in a room full of raging music lovers. If you like it dark and dirty; with its low ceilings and shady corners, the Zone keeps you coming back for more.
Come Get Your Fcukin Beats!
Coming from a city with a vibrant scene, I can guarantee anyone looking for trouble will not be disappointed
Now I’m on the hunt for the goods on your city. I’ve told you my secrets, now you tell me yours…
